Through our committee structure, the Chamber maintains a strong regional operation in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, implements national initiatives, and provides various support services to members across the country.
All members of the Board of Directors are required to serve on at least one committee, while general members are encouraged to join any of the committees suited to their interest and qualifications. By working together, committee members contribute to the Chamber's mission and help advance the community.
All standing committees are listed below, with brief descriptions of their mission. Special (ad hoc) committees may be established from time to time to respond to emerging issues or to focus on strategic development initiatives.

Advocacy & Government Relations Committee
Chair: Shandon Phan, Esq., Global Political Solutions, LLC
Identify legislative issues of high importance to the business community and develop VietAmCham's advocacy agenda. Monitor, evaluate, report, make recommendations and keep members regularly informed on pending legislation of business interest or those that affect the well-being of the Asian American community at large at the federal, state and local levels. Liaison with elected officials who represent key Asian American constituencies and business-related government agencies. Organize or sponsor candidate forums during primary, general, and special elections.
Despite its policy and political nature, the committee pursues a pro-business agenda and its work is entirely non-partisan. It has a subcommittee specifically dedicated to assisting member businesses achieve success in the government procurement process.
Communications Committee
Chairs: Brigitte Le, Galery Bridgitte & Ylan Mui, The Washington Post
Develop PR contents and outreach materials, manage VietAmCham newsletter, web site, blog, email listserv, social media networks, etc.
Events Committee
Chair: Oanh Henry, Allegra Printing
Plans the Chamber' bimonthly networking events, obtains sponsorships and prizes, and recruits participants. In addition, it also coordinates with the Membership Services committee on developing educational programs for members.
Membership Development Committee
Chairs: Anh Nguyen, State Farm Insurance, and Morris Zamura, First Virginia Community Bank
As the Chamber's signature sales force, the Membership Development committee specializes in identification and recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Evaluate eligibility of applicants for membership, bill for and coordinate with the Treasurer to collect and process membership dues, and maintain the membership records. Members are skilled at and committed to helping members identify the best methods for them to utilize their Chamber membership.
Membership Services Committee

Responsible for development of members' benefits package, training programs in the form of seminars, lectures, and workshops with topics of interests to members. There are several specialized subcommittees focusing on strategic development needs or members' interests:
Ambassadors Committee
Chair: Bill Ridley, BK Tours and Travel
Ambassadors serve as public relations support for the Chamber of Commerce. They assist the Chamber’s efforts to maintain and retain members through personal interaction and involvement.
